About Therapy

Therapy is about your story.

When someone chooses to share that story, I view it as a sacred space and respect it.

I understand that you have chosen me to hold this for you, and I take this responsibility very seriously.

Please know that hearing your story is a great honor and a deep privilege for me. There is no part of this that I take lightly.

The signs that a therapist is a right fit for you are simple and clear.

You should walk away feeling that you were heard and cared for during your session. Why would anyone ever come back if they didn’t feel this way?

Your therapist should also transparently lay out treatment options and a clear road map of where you are going.

Whether you have come to me to address your anxiety, trauma, depression, or sensitivity, I have a plan for you in mind, and together we will refine it to make it personal to YOU.

We will actively monitor your progress together. I will check in regularly to see how things are going.

Why spend precious resources (time and money) if you don’t know if you’re getting better? The methods I use are designed to help you see tangible progress in a relatively short amount of time.

In session, you’ll find that my style is gentle yet direct. As a highly sensitive person myself, you’ll find that I am very much attuned to your needs.

About Me

I love what I do, and people know it.

I can honestly say that I have the best job in the world as a therapist.

I didn’t start out doing traditional methods of therapy. My background before starting my own practice was largely in forensic settings. I have worked in correctional facilities, victim services, child welfare, and more. To sum it up, these experiences have helped me understand human suffering intimately. I cherish these experiences and hold them very dear to my heart.

My own healing journey and self-identification as a highly sensitive person led me to the way I practice now. I learned that working in forensic settings wasn’t right for me because (you probably guessed it) I am TOO sensitive. These settings were not conducive for a highly sensitive person to thrive. So, I took matters into my own hands and started a practice that promoted my own self-care and healing.

Why does this matter to you?

It’s simple. Burned-out therapists don’t do a good job and risk missing important information.

I am not a burned-out therapist. I am a happy and well-cared-for therapist with a great work-life balance, which means I have plenty of energy and resources to devote to YOU.

Seeing people grow on their healing journey is what makes me tick. I am a nerd and completely unapologetic about it. Continuing to learn makes me feel alive. This means that I have the most current knowledge about what I do and who I am working with. No matter how long I’ve been practicing, this won’t change.

As far as my background and expertise…

I graduated with my master’s in Social Work from Colorado State University in 2012. I have over 13 years of experience in the mental health field and have practiced psychotherapy for four.

I have completed basic training in EMDR, and I continue to pursue advanced training in this particular treatment modality. I also have completed specialized training in working with highly sensitive people.

When I’m not in my role as a therapist…

I’m cooking up a storm in the kitchen, exploring all sorts of new recipes.

I’m always looking for new and exciting experiences, whether it’s a new place, food, book, documentary, or learning new information.

I’m a mom to an incredible little boy and two fur babies.

Let’s work together.
